Who is this guy, anyway?

About Me

DDXdesign is just me, Dave Dixon.
I draw, design, visualize and create.  Take a look below at some notable happenings.

Graphic Design and Illustration

2020     Was tapped once again by The Bass Channel to do the illustrations for their "And Bass For All" and "10/10 neck bends" T-shirts and accessories

2017-2019 (Now on hiatus)       Art Director at 3rd Degree Games: working on several mobile games in development,  I was creating assets myself (Logos, characters/items, UI, maps, etc) as well as curating and steering staff submissions.

2017     Patent drawings for a product by Kennedy Innovative Solutions

2017     Logo and wordmark set for local company Gravity Games; to be used for online presence, retail location, and merchandise

2016, 2011     Illustrated two editions of The Legal Guide To Video Game Development for the American Bar Association

2015-present     Some of my personal graphics and illustrations are available on t-shirts and other merchandise through Web stores

2011-2014     Art Director and principal designer for startup web network Rocketdemon Productions

2012     A comics-styled illustration I created noncommercially, for my family, generated over 430,000 hits on image-sharing site imgur.com

Was tapped 3 years running to create the title-card graphics for 48-Hour Film Festival entries by Shankapotamus Films

3D and Fabrication

2019     Modeled and rendered a technology-updated version of a current county bus stop for The Stream Innovation and Prince George's County, Maryland, for use with their upcoming automated bus systems, developed with Local Motors.  Created logo-customized Bullseye Buttons and StompBoxes for The Bass Channel.

2018     Upon success of my patent drawings, Kennedy Innovative Solutions returned to commission a 3D rendering of their patent-pending product, for use in meetings with manufacturers.  The 3D model was also a big success, I was told.

2016-present    I am currently making and selling accessories for musicians such as the Bullseye Button footswitch cover for effects pedals, with steadily-growing interest among the community

2012     I created a Mega Man costume for ThinkGeek mascot 'Timmy the monkey', which has been worn by the mascot at large conventions including San Diego Comic-Con

2011     My build of a Steampunk-styled Portal Gun generated over 50,000 hits to the Replica Prop Forum in a single day, and won my client a cash prize at a gaming convention.

Data Visualization

Most notable is my charge as a subcontractor for the Federal Government (2017-present, under different prime contractors).  I have been creating entire suites of dashboards and other dataviz tools for the General Services Administration, Office of Management and Budget, the Department of Defense, and the White House.   I have been lauded for not only the visual design of the new deliverables, but the increased clarity and overall User Experience improvement as well.
